Oak Ledged Doors On Special Offer - February 2011

This month's special offer is on a new batch of oak ledged doors.

These use three ledges rather than the more usual four and this allows for a bit more leeway in the pricing.

We've got doors in stock in 2'3", 2'6" and 2'9" widths and of course a wide range of unbeatable value architectural ironmongery, including Suffolk latches and hand-forged hinges to fix your new doors.

Blanchon Hard Waxoil January Special Offer

Introducing Blanchon Hard Waxoil, the only genuine alternative to Osmo Polyx-Oil for sealing and protecting oak floors.

Blanchon Hard Waxoil
For January 2011, we're offering a 2.5l tin of Blanchon Hard Wax oil for just £48.00 including VAT & Mainland UK delivery - we're pretty sure this is the best value available nationally at the moment !

Blanchon Hard Wax-Oil dries in under 5 hours (usually in under 3!) so you can get 2 coats onto most room sized floors in one day. Osmo's equivalent Rapid Set hard wax oil is almost twice the price for the same performance and so we heartily recommend the Blanchon if you need the job done quickly.

Check out the Blanchon Hard Waxoil page on the Peak Oak website for technical details.

Proflex Wood Floor Adhesive On Special Offer

For November 2010, we've slashed the price of a 16kg tub of Proflex MS Polymer flexible floor adhesive down to just £58 + VAT and delivery.

Everyone knows we keep banging on about how good this stuff is, but it really is the best glue for the job - especially if you're laying a floor over underfloor heating.

Top Tip: Make sure you cover the whole sub-floor using a notched trowel so that there's no air between your boards and the screeded sub-floor.

Oak Flooring For A Top Quality Restoration

Always on the look out for good uses of oak flooring, I stumbled on this - Park Farm in Colwall, Herefordshire.

If there was ever a great example for how oak flooring can be used in a home, this is it.

This farmhouse is quite simply stunning, blending the highest quality contemporary fittings with traditional building techniques and finishes, this house should be an inspiration to all.

Although the farm is floored from wall to wall with oak, it's hard to tell whether they have used solid or engineered oak flooring.

It might seem wrong to use engineered boards in such an old and prestigious build, however, the modern trend for restorations and rebuilds, is to install underfloor heating to free up the walls of radiators.

This could be the case here, as there are no radiators visible in any of the interior shots.

It's worth popping over to the Farm's website because they have a large gallery of pictures of both the rebuild and the finished interiors.

October 2010 Special Offer - Grange Solid Oak Flooring

We're really pushing the boundaries for low cost GENUINE european sourced solid oak flooring this month.

At just £13.50 + VAT per sq. m. these 14mm boards must be the best value in the UK.

This flooring is Grange grade, which is similar to our Barn grade oak and so it has all the knots, shakes and character you'd want for a really rustic look.

Ideal as a replacemnet for carpet and just as hardwearing as its thicker cousins 14mm solid oak flooring is gaining in popularity all the time.

Order yours by calling 01538 304584.

Medullary Rays In A Solid Red Oak Floor

Browsing the web today, I came across this fabulous solid oak flooring in a house in the US dating back to 1802.

It just shows how well oak flooring (in this case red oak) wears and in fact improves with age.

These boards also provide great example of medullary rays - those lighter coloured "tiger stripes" across the grain - talk about character!

Oak Doors From Reclaimed Flooring

Interesting post from apartmenttherapy showing some oak doors created from reclaimed oak flooring.

They did a really good job, but if you want an easier and less expensive way to do it, you could always order up one of our oak ledged door kits.
