Proflex Wood Floor Adhesive On Special Offer

For November 2010, we've slashed the price of a 16kg tub of Proflex MS Polymer flexible floor adhesive down to just £58 + VAT and delivery.

Everyone knows we keep banging on about how good this stuff is, but it really is the best glue for the job - especially if you're laying a floor over underfloor heating.

Top Tip: Make sure you cover the whole sub-floor using a notched trowel so that there's no air between your boards and the screeded sub-floor.

Oak Flooring For A Top Quality Restoration

Always on the look out for good uses of oak flooring, I stumbled on this - Park Farm in Colwall, Herefordshire.

If there was ever a great example for how oak flooring can be used in a home, this is it.

This farmhouse is quite simply stunning, blending the highest quality contemporary fittings with traditional building techniques and finishes, this house should be an inspiration to all.

Although the farm is floored from wall to wall with oak, it's hard to tell whether they have used solid or engineered oak flooring.

It might seem wrong to use engineered boards in such an old and prestigious build, however, the modern trend for restorations and rebuilds, is to install underfloor heating to free up the walls of radiators.

This could be the case here, as there are no radiators visible in any of the interior shots.

It's worth popping over to the Farm's website because they have a large gallery of pictures of both the rebuild and the finished interiors.

Medullary Rays In A Solid Red Oak Floor

Browsing the web today, I came across this fabulous solid oak flooring in a house in the US dating back to 1802.

It just shows how well oak flooring (in this case red oak) wears and in fact improves with age.

These boards also provide great example of medullary rays - those lighter coloured "tiger stripes" across the grain - talk about character!

Oak Doors From Reclaimed Flooring

Interesting post from apartmenttherapy showing some oak doors created from reclaimed oak flooring.

They did a really good job, but if you want an easier and less expensive way to do it, you could always order up one of our oak ledged door kits.
